Wanted... Local Health Champions!

    24 February 2012

    Health Challenge

An exciting new programme has been launched to encourage Caerphilly county borough residents to look after their health.

The vast array of different messages communicated through the media can often leave people confused and unsure of how to access services. This is where Community Health Champions will bridge the gap.

Community Health Champions will help people understand the barrage of information, access services and tackle health issues affecting their local community.

Councillor Rob Gough, Cabinet Member for Public Protection welcomed the new scheme. He said, "It is fantastic to see the local community encouraging each other to lead healthier lifestyles. The scheme will offer real opportunities for those involved to positively impact their communities."

Anyone can volunteer and all Community Health Champions will receive free training, with the opportunity to gain a qualification, helping to improve employment prospects, as well as becoming part of a network of people that are inspiring others to lead healthier lifestyles.
