Beacons Grants

    The Community Planning Beacons Grant Scheme for the voluntary sector has come to an end after three years of success.

    The scheme, a partnership between Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) and the council, was funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's Communities Facilities and Activities Programme.

    The grant scheme aimed to support voluntary organisations with projects that supported the work of the Community Strategy.

    Over the three year period the grant scheme has funded 33 projects and fully allocated the £351,000 available.

    Below is a list of the projects that have benefitted:

    Voice FM
    WEA Valleys Office
    Keep Wales Tidy
    Caerphilly County Borough Crossroads

    Caerphilly Basin & Aber Valley:

    Rudry Village Hall & Social Club
    Senghenydd Youth drop in Centre
    Van Communities First Partnership
    Aber Valley Summer Scheme
    Graig y Rhacca Communities First Partnership

    Mid Valleys East:

    Newbridge Methodist Church
    Newbridge Institute & Memorial Hall
    Pentwynmawr Presbyterian Church

    Lower Islwyn:

    Crosskeys Methodist Community Church
    Crosskeys Community Garden Project (Waunfawr)
    Cwmcarn Angling Association
    Ty Sign Community Partnership

    Upper Rhymney Valley:

    CLURV
    Friends of Deri Primary School
    Deri Regeneration Group
    Fochriw Communities First Partnership

    A Showcase Event will be held in the near future, promoting how the work of the voluntary sector is enhancing the Caerphilly Beacons.
