>There was a great start to Easter this Good Friday for families in the Caerphilly county borough, when the Countryside Service put on their annual Easter "Eggstravaganza".
The event was held at Ynys Hywel Farm, where children had the chance to visit the farm animals. They fed the pigs and newborn lambs, collected eggs from the chickens and helped round up the sheep for the farmer, Rus.
With the help of the Easter bunny, they had the opportunity to paint eggs, and followed a trail discovering the wonders of spring in the local countryside.
The event reached its climax with the Great Egg Race, where children raced their painted eggs down a slope. The Easter bunny handed out prizes to the winners, who also had a chocolate present for everyone that entered hidden under his carrots.
The Easter "Eggstravaganza" was run as part of the 2009 Summer Events programme, run by Caerphilly County Borough Council's Countryside and Landscape Services.
