    Elder Abuse Day

Concerns about elder abuse in the community will be put under the spotlight at a special multi agency information event in Caerphilly next week.

Caerphilly county borough council's Protection of Vulnerable Adults Team is holding a 'drop in' session at The Visit Caerphilly Centre (opposite the Castle) to coincide with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Wednesday 15th June between 10.00am and 2.00pm.

A range of agencies will be attending including Social Services, Gwent Police, Disability CANDO Advocacy, Age Concern Advocacy, Stroke Association, Adult Services Duty Information Team and the Safer Caerphilly Multi Agency Centre. Representatives from each agency will be on hand to give advice in a friendly and informal setting.

World Elder Abuse Day is co-ordinated across the UK by the charity Action on Elder Abuse. This will be the fourth annual event that the CCBC Protection of Vulnerable Adults team have held to raise awareness on how to report abuse and seek support for members of the community who are vulnerable and less able to defend themselves against abuse.

If you suspect that a vulnerable adult is being subjected to any form of abuse please contact the council's Adult Services Duty Information Team on 0808 100 2500.
