>Residents, community groups and schools are being encouraged to grab their litter pickers, spades and wheelbarrows and join forces with Caerphilly County Borough Council for The Big Spring Clean 2012!
Throughout the month of May, the council, in addition to the daily routine frontline maintenance and improvement works it carries out, is encouraging people to take pride in their place by getting involved in clean up projects, helping to make Caerphilly county borough an even cleaner and greener place.
The campaign is also about showcasing and celebrating the county borough's stunning scenery and natural beauty.
A number of schools and community groups have already signed up to take part – and the council is appealing for even more people to get involved in the month-long campaign!
Anthony O'Sullivan, Chief Executive at Caerphilly County Borough Council said, "This campaign is a wonderful opportunity for residents to celebrate all that our county borough has to offer, and also to work alongside us to make sure we all do our bit to ensure our county borough remains a clean, green and pleasant place to live, work and visit".
He continued, "I know a large number of our county borough's schools are already signed up and raring to go, and it is commendable that our youngsters really are leading by example and acting as environmental champions in their local communities. I would encourage as many people as possible to join forces with us and get involved".
Litter pickers and refuse sacks are available to residents or community groups wishing to get involved in the clean up – to sign up and get involved, please call 01495 235 178. The council will arrange to collect the litter collected following the clean ups.
