>The high winds that gusted across South Wales over the weekend resulted in over 30 trees coming down in the Caerphilly county borough.
CCBC staff responded to dozens of calls on Monday morning resulting in one of the busiest days in terms of tree works for many years.
One of the worst incidents happened in Rectory Road, Bedwas where a parked car was crushed by a fallen tree. A large tree also came down in the grounds of Pontllanfraith council offices near Blackwood.
Mark Williams, Head of Public Services said, "The team responded quickly and effectively to clear fallen trees across the county borough and I'd like to thank the staff for their efforts in very difficult conditions. I'm sure residents across the area appreciate their response too."
Local resident Mark Chataway posted a supportive comment on the council's Facebook page, "Thanks to the council staff! A big tree had blocked half the road from Ynysddu to Gelligroes on Sunday but when I came back at 4pm, it was gone. It's quite impressive given the chaos everywhere from the wind.
