Summer sporting celebration at the Winding House this Bank Holiday!

    20 August 2012

The Winding House will be celebrating the Olympic summer this August Bank Holiday weekend with special events for all the family and the running of the historic winding engine.

Sunday 26th August will see the latest in a series of fantastic films in the Winding House Film Club, "Chariots of Fire". What better way to mark this summer of sport than with this inspiring film of British sporting heroism during the 1924 Olympic Games? The film starts at 2pm and admission is free, though booking is essential.

On Bank Holiday Monday (27th August) the Sports Day and Stadiums event will offer fun for the whole family. Visitors can explore games, activities and competitions from the past and discover more about some local sporting heroes. There will also be a sports trail through the galleries, and people can make their own Olympic torch and take part in some traditional games. The event runs from 10am-5pm and admission is free.

The historic winding engine will run at 12pm and 3pm on Bank Holiday Monday, for everyone to enjoy.
