    Sue Toogood promoting pink power

Sue Toogood, who works for Fleet Management at Caerphilly County Borough Council will be promoting pink power from August 14th-19th, in a Pink Car Rally to support the Little Princess Trust.

The Hereford based charity gives 'real hair' wigs to children throughout the UK who have suffered hair loss, primarily through cancer treatments. The aim of the annual Pink Car Rally is to raise awareness of the charity, whilst at the same time raising money to help fund the wigs.

The Pink Car Rally usually leaves Hereford Hospital and heads for a different Children's Hospital each year. Since its inception, it has travelled to Bristol, Birmingham, Oxford and, last year, Cardiff.

This year's rally will paint all of Britain pink. Referred to as 'The Big One', it will make its way from John O'Groats to Land's End, with the aim of raising awareness of the charity throughout the UK.

Sali Gray, creator of the Pink Car Rally, explained, "This year, the rally will take place over six days and we have split the route into six legs. We are looking for more pink cars to join the rally, either for the whole route, or for their local leg. Entry forms are available via the website, or by contacting Sali on 01452 618899. If you don't have a pink car, but would like to participate, we do have details of a company who will 'wrap' cars with a removable pink film!"

Sue Toogood said, "I have participated in the rally every year for the past five years. Being part of this pink parade is incredibly exciting and so much fun. People along the route stop and wave as we pass, and other road users flash their lights and beep their horns. Children who are well enough, come down from the wards to see our pink cars, which is incredibly moving and it's lovely to know that our pink cars can be put to such good use."

In addition to Sue participating in the rally, she is also selling tickets for the Special Pink Raffle, which will be drawn at the end of the rally. The first prize is a 'Couture Haircut' with Celebrity Hairdresser Lee Stafford, plus a Goody Bag of his products (total value £500). Tickets are available from Sue but can also be purchased online for just £1 each, via www.justgiving.com/specialpinkraffle.

The rally will begin on Tuesday 14th August and all the cars will reach their destination on Sunday 19th August. To find out more about the charity, to join the rally and view the full route or to simply make a donation visit www.pink-car-rally.com.
