    Armed Forces Day

Caerphilly County Borough Council will be showing its support for the men and women who make up our Armed Forces community next week, and is encouraging residents from across Caerphilly county borough to get involved and show their support too.

A short parade, led by the Royal British Legion, followed by a flag raising ceremony will be held at Caerphilly County Borough Council's headquarters, Penallta House, Ystrad Mynach on Saturday 16th June at 10.00am.

Residents are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be led by Caerphilly County Borough Council's Mayor, Cllr Gaynor Oliver.

Cllr Oliver said, "Armed Forces Day provides a wonderful opportunity to get together to raise awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and to show our support for all they do".

She continued, "I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and join us as we honour the men and women who make up our Armed Forces community".

Following the formal proceedings, a special 'Jubilee-themed' Family Fun Day will take place in the grounds of the council's headquarters, in support of the Royal British Legion.

The Fun Day, which will run from 10.30am until 3.00pm on Saturday 16th June, will offer fun for all the family – from bouncy castles and face painting for the children, through to classic cars and numerous stalls selling a wide variety of items including jewellery and cupcakes!
