The Get IT Together project, a partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Citizens Online and BT, is looking for volunteers with basic computer skills to help run taster IT sessions for people in the county borough who need support to take their first steps.

We will be running a number of weekly computer groups in various venues throughout Caerphilly county borough. Sessions typically involve supporting older people as well as individuals with disabilities at a grass roots level to help them realise the benefits of being online and encourage computer skills including the use of e-mail, the Internet, and word-processing.

The sessions are extremely relaxed, good fun, and very sociable, and we'd love to have a volunteer who could bring in some new ideas.

Initially volunteers would be helping out at sessions run and organised by the Get Caerphilly Online team, but longer term we would encourage volunteers who are confident and comfortable enough to take on the running of sessions on a regular basis.

There is no age limit to our volunteers so anyone can get involved and you don't have to be a computer whizz. You just need to have some basic computer skills , as well as patience and the ability to get on with people, and we can organise some informal training for you in areas you think you need extra help.

Volunteers will be subject to a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and references will be requested.

Get IT Together forms part of the Get Caerphilly Online campaign – www.getcaerphillyonline.org.uk
