>Pengam Railway station will see development work, designed to expand the parking spaces and provide enhanced facilities, commence on August 13th 2012.
The successful contractor has been named as, Raymond Brown Construction Ltd, who will take control of the existing car park and Glan-Y-Nant station depot site for 30 weeks.
Not only will the development expand the car parking spaces, but it will also improve passenger safety with CCTV and street lighting, improve access with cycle parking, ramps to platforms and disabled parking and will provide enhanced passenger transport information.
Cllr. Tom Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation and Engineering said, "We appreciate resident's co-operation during these development works which will provide enhanced facilities for the community. These works will improve transport links, safety and accessibility for all passengers."
Signs providing advanced notice of the closure have been placed on the site to provide advanced notice to users of the park and ride facility. Alternative Park and Ride facilities are available at Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly and Bargoed stations during the closure.
The scheme is a partnership between Caerphilly county borough council and Sewta, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the Welsh Government.
