Hanbury Square will be transformed to create a welcoming arrival space. The entrance to the town has been remodelled from the initial concept presented at the last public exhibition. The road has been realigned to sweep traffic around the new space at Hanbury Square to allow more space to be given over for pedestrian use.

Hanbury Square proposal
The stepped design feature of the initial proposal has been retained, as has the introduction of trees and planting. The small plateau area at the highest point has been reduced to a size that now lends itself to a piece of artwork being installed.
The design maximises the usable space at street level capitalising on its potential for street markets, events, café culture etc.

Funding for a range of regeneration work was secured in January 2010. The £8.3 million funding package includes £3.2 million from the European Regional Development Fund and £2.5 million of Targeted Match Funding through the Welsh Assembly Government.
