Bargoed Bus Station

The relocation of the bus station to a purpose built location at the northern end of the town will signal the next phase in the development of the Transport Hub for Bargoed.

During the major infrastructure works that were completed in the summer of 2009, a new 150 metres railway tunnel was constructed at the end of the existing railway station. The new bus station will be built on top of the tunnel, in a prime position adjacent to the railway station to facilitate passenger interchange.

The bus interchange will consist of 5 bays with bespoke bus shelters. Good pedestrian routes will also be provided to the new retail development and Hanbury Road Car Park.

To encourage the use of public transport a taxi drop off point has been included in the design concepts and an additional car park with 22 spaces (including 4 disabled spaces.)

This northern gateway into the town will be extensively landscaped and planted. There are proposals for new Public Conveniences for the town. Additional cycle stands, seating and signage have been included in the designs.
