Shopping & Services in Bargoed

Traditionally, Bargoed was regarded as the district shopping centre for the northern communities of the county borough.  However, with the changing economic climate following the closure of the colliery, the town’s shopping offer has fallen.  The Greater Bargoed Community Regeneration scheme will once again re-establish Bargoed as the premier northern shopping centre for the County Borough. 

Bargoed town centre has over 140 retail outlets, which includes a mixture of national chains - including Burtons, Dorothy Perkins and Peacocks – these are complimented by a mix of smaller independent traders, financial services and cafes. The retail area benefits from good car parking facilities and has some public art and urban realm spaces.
