2008 REVIEW
It is estimated that around 70,000 people came to Caerphilly over the festival weekend to grab a slice of the Big Cheese action, which is now established as one of the biggest 'must see' summer events taking place in Wales.
In its eleventh year the event was blessed with a glorious weekend of weather following a wet and muddy 2007 festival. The weekend was one of the very few dry spells enjoyed during the summer of 2008, encouraging families out in their thousands.
The Great Cheese race was a huge success with ITV filming the teams at the start of their race around the castle. The Friday was also host to a spectacular fireworks display and some feet tapping sounds from the music stages as well as the opening of the funfair.
