Making its first visit to Blackwood is one of the countries most popular nostalgia shows.  Join Neil Sands and his fabulous cast of West End performers for this afternoon filled with Music Memories and Good Old Fashioned FUN.  Featuring magical musical memories from the 40’s 50’s 60’s & 70’s. 
Back to a time when, Songs had words you could sing a long to, you never had to lock your front door, and it took 5 minutes to warm up the telly! With songs made famous by Doris Day, Bing Crosby, Julie Andrews, Max Bygraves, Vera Lynn, Elvis Presley and much more… even ABBA.

Tony Jacobs & Jim Barry quintet

Tony Jacobs with the Jim Barry Quintet return to Blackwood Miners Institute – one of their favourite theatres with The Fabulous Sinatra Years, currently in its 10th year of touring.

And indeed it is not just the great man who is celebrated in this fast moving, fun-packed concert. Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Al Jolson, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Perry Como, Bobby Darin and Tommy Dorsey are all remembered – as are the songwriters such as Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.

STATE OF UNDRESS

State of undress

State of Undress are a rocky-rootsy ‘fiddlesome’ band from Dorset. They are delighted to be bringing their distinctive and exuberant brand of original music to Blackwood Miners Institute for the first time. They have played a number of times in South Wales in the last two years (most recently at the Pontardawe Festival this summer) and done several live sessions on BBC Radio Wales. Described as ‘ overflowing with spirit and a compelling energy’ and with music that’s ‘a blend of roots-rock, country, Celtic flavourings and a full-bodied melodic musical assault’ (R2 Rock n Reel).

State of Undress are: Charlie Rose – vocals and percussion; Alan Rose – guitars, mandolin and vocals; Samantha Jane – fiddle; Malcolm Windett – bass and electric upright bass; Keith Fletcher – drums, African drum, and percussion.
