Directions

Exit Junction 32 of M4, take the A470 then A468 and follow the signs for Caerphilly.

Please refer to the map, select a marker, choose 'Get Directions: To here' and enter your starting location.

Public Transport

On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December 2011, Cardiff Road will be closed to traffic and the bus stops listed below will not be served. All buses will use Crescent Road and stop at the Wesley Methodist Chapel. These arrangements will apply all day on both days.

  • Southgate Square (opposite Tesco)
  • Castle Entrance (opposite Castle Court Bandstand)
  • Piccadilly Surgery (towards Nantgarw)

A free Park & Ride/Town Centre Shuttle bus will operate during the Market opening hours to allow passengers to reach Caerphilly Interchange from the Castle Court area of town.

Parking

A free park and ride service will operate from St Ilan School, Pontygwindy Road. 9.00am to 5.30pm on Saturday and 10.00am to 4.30pm on Sunday. Follow the temporary signs from the A470, A469 and A468.

The Twyn car park is closed for the event. Alternative town centre parking is available at Crescent Road car park and Caerphilly Railway Station Park and Ride.

Coach parking

The town's main coach park is located off Crescent Road, 5 minute walk from the site of The Medieval Christmas Fayre. Alternatively the park and ride facility can be used.

Visitor Information

Road Closure

Cardiff Road (from it's junction with Clive Street and Bartlett Street) and Castle Street (North bound carriageway only) will be closed from 2.00am on Saturday 10th December until 9.00pm on Sunday 12th December.

Toilets

Toilets are available at the castle, by Caerphilly railway station at the top end of town, below the tourist information centre at the lower end of town centre and at the Twyn community centre.

Disabled access

Access to the site is good with most of the events taking place on hard standing surfaces. There may be some elements of the activities within the castle grounds on grassed surfaces.

The park and ride bus is equipped with low floor access.
