Education
There's no better, stimulating place for discovery and learning
than our local countryside. It is the perfect environment to
instil a richer, deeper learning for individuals through first
hand, sensory experiences.
The Countryside and Landscape Service provide opportunities for visits by schools and groups that are fun, exciting, innovative and fulfilling.
The country parks provide many visits for schools and groups each year, covering curricular-linked programmes including biology, history, geography and art. Activities such as pond dipping, minibeast safaris, bird box making, shelter building, farm visits, woodland exploration, discovering plants, food chain games, orienteering, poetry, kite making etc. are very popular.
The Countryside and Landscape Service also visits schools to advise and assist with school grounds improvements, environmental topics and the promotion of the Forest Schools Initiative . Please go to the Forest Education Initiative website for more information.
The Service also manages Ynys Hywel Farm, a working hill farm which is open for visits.
All this and without having to leave the county borough!
An Environmental Education Strategy is being developed to guide the development of the Education Service.
Please contact the Countryside Service if you are interested in making a trip to the countryside with a school or group and you require assistance.
