Objective 1 - Improving Communities

Supporting Community Projects in the North Sirhowy Valley

This project is the first phase in implementing the North Sirhowy Valley Design Study. This is a framework for the regeneration of the communities of Markham, Argoed, Hollybush and Manmoel.

These communities have developed projects to improve their villages such as landscaping schemes, control of invasive species (like Japanese knotweed) and physical improvements to the villages including dry stone walls, new paths, street furniture and traffic management measures. The project will also fund a transport study and a cultural study to help further develop the area.
