Objective 1

The Countryside and Landscape Service has secured over £1m of European Objective 1 grant funding to date for rural projects in the county borough. We have recently received a further two approvals for European funded projects, taking the total number of projects approved to eight and the total amount of Objective 1 grant approved to £1,043,332. The Objective 1 grant money pays about 50% of project costs and the remaining money has been received from the Welsh Assembly Government and Welsh Development Agency.

These eight projects fit within the framework of The Rural Asset Strategy for the county borough. They are first in a range of projects that aim to protect and improve the environment, economy and quality of life in rural areas. The projects have all been developed in partnership with other organisations and individuals both in the public, private and voluntary sector.
