The Children Act 2004 required each Local Authority to establish a Local Safeguarding Children Board. The Caerphilly Safeguarding Children Board replaces the former Area Child Protection Committee. The Board has the lead strategic role in ensuring children and young people in Caerphilly Borough are protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation and live in an environment that promotes their well being and life chances.
Safeguarding children and promoting their welfare is the responsibility of everyone. This website provides information for children, young people and their families, professionals and community members about the structure, aims and work of the Board. The site contains useful links to other websites that also contain information about safeguarding children and young people. The website will be updated regularly with information about guidance, protocols, procedures, events and news in relation to safeguarding in Caerphilly County Borough.
Caerphilly Safeguarding Children Board have published a number of leaflets for parents and carers and children and young people. The Board has also published a 'safeguarding card' which is the size of a credit card and fit easily into purses, pockets or
wallets.
The internet has become an invaluable reference tool in the home and is used for a wide range of tasks from searching for a holiday to ordering the weekly shopping list. The internet has many benefits, however there are also some risks that parents need to be aware of.
