The Partnership

The Partnership is representative of local needs and priorities and based on proportionate representation from the four sectors: private, public, community and voluntary. Caerphilly CCBC acts as the Secretariat for the Partnership. The Partnership will oversee the delivery and development of the Rural Development Plan in Caerphilly through the Local Development Strategy.

Working within the Community Plan process, the Partnership intends to build upon the distinctive character of the area to achieve its vision through targeting the following sectors:

The Partnership will focus specifically on the following activities within those sectors:

  • Strengthening Caerphilly’s rural industries including farming, forestry and tourism and encouraging a ‘buy local’ attitude
  • Safeguarding and where appropriate enhancing the rural environment and heritage including maximising the opportunities presented by the growth in the hospitality/tourism sector
  • Promoting and enabling greater access to services and amenities for communities in rural areas
  • Improving the physical environment within rural communities through village restoration and improved community amenities
  • Encouraging and promoting ‘rural entrepreneurship’ (including social enterprise)
  • Strengthening rural communities through community capacity building and empowerment
  • Supporting the other activities through appropriate training.

Our Partnership is based on the quarters principle and has 24 members.

Caerphilly Local Development Strategy

The Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd RDP Partnership has developed a long-term vision for rural focused regeneration in Caerphilly, aligned with the Caerphilly Community Strategy vision.

The vision seeks to provide opportunities to encapsulate all that is considered distinctive to Caerphilly in its role as both a South Wales valley authority and also a predominately ‘rural’ area:

“To create and foster viable and sustainable rural communities where the distinctiveness of Caerphilly borough is promoted and where appropriate, enhanced, to improve the overall quality of life and opportunities for people living in those communities”.
