Day Nurseries

Registered day nurseries can be run by community or voluntary groups, local authorities or privately.

Most are open 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday and full and part time places can be arranged to meet your family requirements. They can be registered for early years education and provide full day care, educational and fun activities for babies and children up to the age of 5yrs.

Some nurseries run holiday clubs during the school holidays and a pick up and drop off service providing wrap-a-round care for school age children from 3 - 8 years.

Day nurseries can belong to the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). They aim to enhance the development and education of children in their early years, through the provision of support services. They develop, encourage and maintain high standards in education and care for the benefit of children, families and local communities.

Day nurseries within Caerphilly county borough can achieve accreditation through the Caerphilly Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) "Quality Standards - a stepping stone to quality". Staff are qualified or working towards a qualification and all have had Criminal Record Bureau Checks disclosures.

Many NDNA member nurseries have achieved NDNA's "Quality Counts" accreditation or are working towards it.

Costs can vary and under the new WTC (Working Tax Credit) you maybe entitled to help towards paying for childcare.
