Paul and Erica have been fostering for 2 years and have a daughter aged 10. Erica is a teacher and Paul is the main carer. Paul feels he can be a positive role model to children who have lacked a ‘father figure' in their lives. They are currently fostering a 2-year-old girl and her 1-year-old sister on a short-term basis.

Deirdre is 54 and her husband Dave is 56. They foster 3 teenage girls on a long-term basis. Deirdre and Dave have been fostering for 3 years and were surprised that they could even apply to foster at this stage in their lives. Deirdre and Dave decided to wait until their children were grown up and they had the time and patience to offer the young people placed with them.
