Make a difference during Foster Fortnight

Over the next two weeks (14th - 27th May) Caerphilly county borough council will be encouraging more people to become foster carers as part of a special 'Foster Care Fortnight' publicity drive.
Promotional packs of Sunflower seeds are being distributed across the area to encourage people to grow, nurture and care for the sunflowers, just as they would a child.
Foster Care Fortnight helps highlight the need for more carers and the seed packs are being delivered to homes, libraries, leisure centres, supermarkets and community centres throughout the county borough.
A special teddy bear picnic will also be held in Caerphilly Castle involving local school children to highlight the need for more carers.
The council has been working hard to recruit more foster carers and over the next year they will be looking to recruit more - particularly for teenagers and sibling groups.
"The sunflower theme worked very well last year, and we received a number of enquiries as a result of people seeing the seed packs," said Cllr. Robin Woodyatt, Cabinet Member for Social Services. "Although we have a number of fantastic foster carers in the county borough, we always need more. If you think you may have what it takes to care for a Caerphilly child, and make a difference to their lives, please do not hesitate to contact us."
You can foster a child for one weekend a month or for several years, all you need is some space in your house and in your life for a child who needs your help. We pay generous allowances which are unlikely to affect any benefits you may be receiving.
