Focus on fostering at Teddy Bears' Picnic

If you went down to the Castle this week, you'd sure have a big surprise!
A special Teddy Bears' Picnic took place in the grounds of Caerphilly Castle on Monday 14th May when children from a local primary school joined staff from Caerphilly county borough council to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight.
The authority's Family Placement Team was joined by local foster carers and pupils from Twyn Primary School to help raise the profile of fostering across the area.
The children and the team had a lovely afternoon in the castle grounds enjoying a sing-a-long with their teddy bears and a tasty picnic. Luckily the weather was on their side and the sun was shining for this special event.
Cllr Robin Woodyatt, Cabinet Member for Social Services said, "Foster Care Fortnight is a national campaign with the aim of recruiting more foster carers. Caerphilly council is always actively recruiting, and during foster care fortnight the team will be distributing sunflower seeds around the county borough, with the hope that people will love, care and nurture the sunflowers, as they would a foster child."
"The council have a number of excellent carers, but always have the need for more" he added.
