Caerphilly foster carers recently received a big 'thank you' from Caerphilly County Borough Council for the love, care and commitment they provide for the children and young people they look after.

All foster carers were invited to the appreciation evening held at Bryn Meadows Golf and Country Hotel. The event began with an award ceremony presented by Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Robin Woodyatt.

Special thanks was given to six couples:

Best Newcomers:

  • Mandy and Paul Reeves from Blackwood
  • Elaine and Tyrone Niblett from Abertysswg

Outstanding Contribution:

  • Mair and Mostyn Cornish from Cardiff
  • Teresa and Terry Heron from Blackwood

Personal Achievement:

  • Denise Edmunds from Penpedairheol
  • Joe and Eira Griffiths from Bedwas

After the awards, the foster carers enjoyed a buffet and were then left to dance the night away! The event is the fourth of its kind and has been received well by foster carers.

Cllr Robin Woodyatt said, "Our foster carers provide an invaluable service looking after children of all ages who have often experienced turmoil in the past. They provide a loving and stable family environment for these children and can make a tremendous difference to their lives."

"This event is an opportunity for us to say 'thank you' to our local foster carers for their efforts. We always need more carers to give children a good start in life so if anyone is interested in becoming involved, please get in touch to find out more."

The dedication and commitment of these foster carers has helped change the lives of children and young people in Caerphilly.
