Health and Safety
To be able to swim in the deep end of the pool you must be capable of swimming 50m i.e 2 lengths using a recognised stroke i.e Front Crawl or Breast Stroke not Back Stroke or Doggy Paddle.
If your swimming skills appear weak to the lifeguard on duty, you will be required to complete a swim test.
Pool Admission Policy
The Council strives to provide the safest possible swimming conditions within its facilities; we therefore follow the national recommendations as agreed by the ASA, STA, ISRM, ILAM and HSE, which states the following: -
A responsible adult must accompany children under 5 years old on the ratio of 1 adult to 1 child.
A responsible adult must accompany 5 - 7 year old children on the ratio of 1 Adult : 2 Children
An admissions policy is required because Lifeguards can never replace the care and attention provided by a parent/guardian. The purpose of the child admissions policy is to safeguard children who use our swimming pool. It is not intended to prevent children having fun and enjoying the benefits associated with swimming. Nor is it intended to make life difficult for parents/guardians.
During school holidays this timetable is subject to change. Please refer to centres notice board and reception answer phone system.
