Special Olympic success for Caerphilly

Sportsmen and women from Caerphilly travelled to Glasgow between the
2nd and 8th of July for the 2005 Special Olympics. The Welsh
team for ten pin bowling was made up of 18 competitors, 11
of those from Caerphilly County Borough.
The team was highly successful and came away with a huge
medal tally of 8 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze
The following competitors collected the medals:
Colin Williams - 2 Gold, 1 Silver
Louise Price - 2 Gold, 1 Silver
Chris Bond - 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 6th Ribbon
Zoe Wise - 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 7th Ribbon
Kirsty Rosser - 1 Gold, 1 Bronze, 6th Ribbon
Wendy Parry - 1 Gold, 1 Bronze, 5th Ribbon
Anthony Randall - 2 Silver, 5th Ribbon
Paul Griffiths - 1 Silver, 5th Ribbon, 6th Ribbon
Joanne Talbot - 1 Bronze, 5th Ribbon, 6th Ribbon
Beverly Smith - 1 Bronze, 6th Ribbon, 7th Ribbon
Antony Weeks - 4th Ribbon, 5th Ribbon, 6th Ribbon
The Wales team medal count for Ten Pin Bowling finished at,
12 Gold, 11 Silver and 7 Bronze.
Caerphilly's only swimmer to enter the Special Olympics was
Helen Pritchard who put in a fantastic performance to take
a total of three medals (1 Gold and 2 Silver).
The team’s success is due to tremendous hard work from
the two coaches Jan Williams and Sarah Hoddinott. Jan, Head
Coach for Wales Ten Pin Bowling, said “ I am very proud
of all of them and all the hard work and training over the
last 2 year that has lead to this fantastic success”.
