A day of fun and fitness
22.04.2008
Pupils from primary schools in the Caerphilly county borough enjoyed a day of fun fitness activities at a special event held in Cardiff recently.
Caerphilly county borough council’s Active Young People Officer, Danny Thomas, arranged for four primary schools to travel down to UWIC, for a fun filled day of sporting activities.
The Dragon Sport Extravaganza is an annual festival that provides primary school pupils an opportunity to take part in various activities. Joining the pupils and school staff were 25 sport leaders 2 of which were college students trained by CCBC Sport Development Team.
The participating schools are different on an annual basis. Each pupil received a certificate and had a chance to interact with pupils and teachers from 11 South East regions. The day was a success with 400 pupils experiencing at least one new sport not necessarily offered by their school.
