Friends of Llancaiach Fawr

Everybody needs friends, and Llancaiach Fawr is lucky to have scores of them.

Ever since it opened, the members of the Association of Friends of Llancaiach Fawr have been helping to make it an even better experience for visitors.

We’ve paid for many of the objects that you see in the Manor, including the impressive tapestry in the Great Hall and the Prichard family portrait. Outside, the Friends funded the knot garden and the orchard. We’ve also supported projects to enable people with disabilities to enjoy this remarkable house.

However, we are not just a fund raising group. Members also support the Manor in a wide variety of practical ways, from sewing and gardening to helping with ghost tours and helping the crowds who flock to Llancaiach Fawr for major events. Some even become costumed servants with their own stories to tell.

Of course, we understand that some people have more time or energy than others. So, there is no compulsion to do any of these things. All we really expect Friends to do is to enjoy and appreciate Llancaiach Fawr, and to tell their friends what a wonderful place it is.

The Association publishes a regular newsletter to keep Friends in touch with what’s going on at the Manor. We hold a variety of social evenings through the year, and Friends are also entitled to a number of concessions on admission to the Manor and some public events. It’s a great way to keep in touch with Llancaiach Fawr through the changing seasons and the upheavals of 1645.

If you’re interested in joining us we’d be delighted to see you. Membership costs only £5. There is a concessionary rate of £3 for the partners of members, together with OAP’s, students and those receiving benefit. A family membership costs £10. You can get more details, and an application form, by emailing our Membership Secretary, Anne Jones, at anne.persondy@btinternet.com

We look forward to hearing from you.
