Caerphilly CBC Announces Amendments to Artificial Pitch Allocation Criteria for Enhanced Community Sports Engagement
Posted on : 20 Mar 2024
Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced amendments to the allocation criteria for artificial pitches. This decision reflects the evolving landscape of Rugby and Football and accommodates changes made by the respective governing bodies. The allocation criteria will come into practice from June 2024 in preparation for the winter booking slots.
The existing criteria, endorsed in 2014 for the Centre for Sporting Excellence (CSE), will be updated to align with the progression in sports and the Council's investment in additional 3G pitches. This extension aims to meet the community sport needs for other managed sites, ensuring inclusivity and access for diverse sports clubs.
The vision for sport and active recreation in Caerphilly focuses on encouraging healthy lifestyles, supporting residents to be more active, more often. The amended criteria aim to provide clarity and consistency for clubs and organisations regarding the allocation of Artificial Turf and 3G Pitch facilities.
The proposed criteria outline priorities for Rugby and Football, emphasising community engagement, competition tiers, and sustainable age-grade pathways. Additionally, the criteria extend to other managed ATP/3G facilities across the county, promoting a holistic approach to facility provision.
To support community usage, decision making for slot allocations will be handled by Sport and Leisure services, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment for local sports clubs.
These amendments signify Caerphilly County Borough Council’s commitment to inspiring future generations, supporting local community sports clubs, and achieving sporting success. By adapting to the evolving sports landscape, the Council aims to maximise the opportunities provided by its ATP/3G facilities, contributing to the growth and development of community sport across the county borough.
