Caerphilly town centre is celebrating a double achievement after scooping two prestigious awards in one week.
It has been announced that the town’s impressive floral displays have once again led to success at the annual Wales in Bloom Awards. Caerphilly is to receive a Silver Gilt Medal - the highest honour among the South Wales entrants - for its floral displays in the all-important ‘Town Trophy’ category.

This is the fifth year running that Caerphilly has scooped a top prize in the prestigious Wales in Bloom competition. Llandudno took the top spot, but Caerphilly is still celebrating this fantastic achievement and Caerphilly county borough council is delighted with the result.
The other news is that the popular Morgan Jones Park has secured a Green Flag award for the third year running.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by the Civic Trust, is the national standard for parks and green spaces. Winners are judged to be welcoming, safe and well maintained with the strong involvement of the local community.
Facilities at the park include a hugely popular interactive water playground, a premier children’s play area, a Multi Use Games Area, a grass maze, wildflower meadow, floral walk, bowling green, cricket pitch, football pitch and tennis courts.
Leader of council, Cllr Harry Andrews said, “I’d like to congratulate everyone involved in both schemes on these impressive achievements. Caerphilly boasts fantastic floral displays as well as a premiere park offering a safe, clean recreational area for visitors and residents alike. It’s good to see our principal town receive two such prestigious accolades and we hope this success will continue in the future.”
This year’s Wales in Bloom entry was supported by the Castle Court Shopping centre, Arriva Trains, CADW, Caerphilly Independent Retail Association, Caerphilly Town Council and the many residents of Caerphilly who's fantastic gardens contribute so much to the floral flavour of the town.
This year the Wales in Bloom Awards Ceremony will take place on the 28th September in Caerphilly Castle.
