Gelligaer is set in the heart of Caerphilly County Borough – where 80% of the area is beautiful, green countryside. The hills offer breathtaking scenery, and are the ideal location for many activities including bird watching, cycling and even abseiling.

The area has a rich heritage from the pre history of the area on Gelligaer Common and Twmbarlwm, through to the modern stories of disaster and community stoicism at Aber Valley Heritage Project, where the largest mining disaster in Britain is remembered.

The Roman Fort at Gelligaer was an important staging post for the Roman forces, now it is an important reason to visit a hidden corner of south Wales, which is rich is hospitality, scenery and heritage.
