All our foster carers are paid a weekly allowance for each child placed with them to pay for the child's day-to-day needs such as food, clothing, nappies and outings. Foster carers are also paid a fee for themselves. If you are in receipt of any benefits, we would recommend that you contact the benefits agency to confirm if the receipt of these fees would affect you, as every case will be different.
From 1 April 2012 – weekly fostering allowance per child placed
| Ages of child | |
| 0-4 years | £143.00 |
| 5-15 years | £130.00 |
| 16+ years | £164.00 |
From 1 April 2012 - weekly fee paid to the foster carer
| Carers level | |
| Probationary | £57.01 |
| Mainstream | £68.41 |
| Career | £176.73 |
The weekly fee for the foster carer is paid per child in placement. However if you are approved for more than one child, but had no children placed with you at a particular time, you will only receive one fee payment.
For example:
Mainstream carer approved for 2 children aged between 5 and 15 with no children in placement = 1 x mainstream fee of £68.41
Mainstream carer approved for 2 children aged between 5 and 15 with 2 children in placement = 2 x mainstream fee of £68.41 = £136.82 PLUS 2 x weekly allowance of £130.00 = £260.00. Total £396.82
