You are classed as a student nurse if you are undertaking a course leading to registration under the Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Parts 1-6 or 8) at a College of Nursing and Midwifery or a College of Health. Only students studying for their first inclusion on the register are not counted.
You will also be discounted for discount purposes if you are a student nurse studying an academic course at university or on a Project 2000 course.
The application form must be completed by or on behalf of the person who is liable to pay council tax. It must be supported by a student certificate completed by the certification officer of the educational establishment concerned.
Remember, a single person discount (25%) can only be awarded where ONE person remains liable after others have been disregarded, for example, in a three adult household two have to qualify to be disregarded before a discount can be awarded.
