Student nurses

You are classed as a student nurse if you are undertaking a course leading to registration under the Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Parts 1-6 or 8) at a College of Nursing and Midwifery or a College of Health. Only students studying for their first inclusion on the register are not counted.

You will also be discounted for discount purposes if you are a student nurse studying an academic course at university or on a Project 2000 course.

The application form must be completed by or on behalf of the person who is liable to pay council tax. It must be supported by a student certificate completed by the certification officer of the educational establishment concerned.

Remember, a single person discount (25%) can only be awarded where ONE person remains liable after others have been disregarded, for example, in a three adult household two have to qualify to be disregarded before a discount can be awarded.

Please complete the form in black ink and in block capitals and return it to us together with any supporting documentation to the address in the top right hand corner.

If your application is accepted, you will then be sent a revised payment schedule.

Remember, if your circumstances change so that you are no longer entitled to a discount you MUST inform us as soon as possible to avoid facing a penalty.
