Your tenancy agreement
At the beginning of your tenancy you sign a tenancy agreement. This sets out the details of the contract between you and Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Breaking your tenancy agreement
If you break your tenancy agreement we will write to tell you what you need to do.
If you fail to keep to any agreement you will be served with a notice telling you the council is going to court to evict you. If the case is proved, the court must give us possession of your home.
To help avoid such proceeding, it is important that you respond quickly to any letters we send about your tenancy.
Ending your tenancy
The tenancy agreement is a legal document and it is important that when you want to end your tenancy you follow the right steps, or you may end up paying rent after you have left the property.
To end your tenancy you must:
- Put your request in writing and send it to your local housing office
- Provide at least 4 weeks notice and the end date must be a Monday

Death of a tenant
In the event of the death of a tenant the next of kin or representative of that tenant must notify the nearest local housing office and provide a copy of the death certificate as soon as one has been issued.
Ending your tenancy to move into a care home
If you are a council tenant and you are considering moving out of your council home into a care home, there are a number of things that you will need to consider when bringing your tenancy to an end.
