Sustainable development

Child holding a globe of the world

More than 6.6 billion people live on planet earth, all sharing a finite pool of resources. There is now widespread recognition of the un-sustainability of our current ways of living and developing. World population is expected to reach 8 billion by 2030 placing even greater requirement on us to deliver a better quality of life using less resources: "living better, using less".

Sustainable development aims to enable all people to meet their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life without compromising the quality of life for future generations.

Sustainable development cannot be achieved by any organisation or individual working in isolation.  We are working hard to help businesses and schools to become more sustainable, and for individuals to embrace sustainable living.

Visit the Sustainable Caerphilly County Borough website for hints and tips on how you can be more sustainable. The site features an online questionnaire to help you find out how green you really are. Visitors can also make a pledge to make a difference and achieve a more sustainable future.
