Caerphilly StreetPride brings together the services that help keep Caerphilly county borough clean, green and safe. Our aim is to work with you to keep our streets and neighbourhoods at a standard that promotes pride and community responsibility.
So what is Caerphilly StreetPride all about?
Put simply, Caerphilly StreetPride is about keeping our county borough clean, green and safe by tackling the neighbourhood issues that matter to you.
By working as one team, this means that we can build upon the successful delivery of services that contribute to protecting and enhancing the general 'streetscene' of communities within Caerphilly county borough, and help build community pride by working with you to tackle the issues that matter most to you.
However, we are unable to do this without your help!
What types of issues can be dealt with by Caerphilly StreetPride?
A vast array of issues can be dealt with by Caerphilly StreetPride including:
- Abandoned vehicles
- Street lighting
- Street cleansing
- Damaged kerbs
- Potholes
- Road markings and signage
- Fly-posting
- Damage to bus shelters/bus stops
- Pest control
- Noise nuisance
- Smoke nuisance
- Dead animals on the highway or park
- Maintenance of roadside verges
- Blocked drains or gullies
- Street naming plates
- Road spillages or obstructions
- Animal trespass
- Fly-tipping
- Littering
- Dog fouling
- Discarded needles or syringes
- Graffiti
- Parks
Each of these issues are dealt with by Caerphilly County Borough Council and its partners on a daily basis, however by working together as one 'Caerphilly StreetPride' team, there is an opportunity for us to enhance what is already being achieved, and provide an even better service to you.
Who is involved in Caerphilly StreetPride?
There are a wide variety of services that come under the Caerphilly StreetPride remit, including:
- Waste Strategy and Operations
- Highways
- Cleansing
- Environmental Health
- Community Safety
In addition, the following activities that are already in existence in Caerphilly county borough will play an active role in Caerphilly StreetPride:
- Community Payback – Within Caerphilly county borough, Gwent Probation Service supervises offenders serving community sentences, who undertake over 10,000 hours of Community Payback in our county borough each year in highly visible fluorescent orange vests.
- Graffiti busters – The Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership provides funding each year for a Gwent Probation Service Supervisor to oversee a team of offenders who undertake graffiti and fly-post removal, together with other environmental cleansing issues.
- Community Cleansing Team – This team visits all parts of the borough on a cyclical basis. Their workload is currently determined by local Members and by Community and Town Councils picking up on issues that might not otherwise have been picked up through routine service delivery.
- Tidy Towns Tidy Places – This team is a multi-skilled team, often working in collaboration with community and environmental groups, as well as local businesses on clean ups, vegetation clearance, planting and street furniture painting to improve those areas of private/waste ground tarnished by 'enviro' crime.
- Community Assets Team – This team attend to works that might not normally be picked up on, including painting of railings and street furniture, the replacement of vandalised street furniture and hard landscaping, and other small items of maintenance work.
- Weed Removal Team – With this team, the works are again identified by local Members, Community and Town Councils. The aim of the programme is to supplement the weed spraying programme that is undertaken throughout the summer period and to tackle areas of land (for example, rear lanes) that are often beyond the scope of scheduled summer grounds maintenance regimes.
More importantly, the success of Caerphilly StreetPride is heavily dependant upon the involvement of YOU, our residents.

How you can get involved in Caerphilly StreetPride?
You, as residents of Caerphilly county borough know what environmental issues are of concern to you in your individual streets or neighbourhoods. By working with us to inform us of these concerns, we are able to attend to them swiftly, and provide a better service and living environment to you.
There are a number of ways that you can get involved and report your concerns to us:
- You can report your concern to us by selecting one of the links on the right hand side of this webpage. Almost all of these services provide an online form so you can report issues to us 24/7 and without needing to call us.
- Alternatively, you can call us on our dedicated helpline on 01443 866566. Lines are open Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
- You can attend your local PACT meeting. The PACT (Partnerships and Communities Together) process enables residents to identify StreetPride priorities for the council to address for you. Feedback on the completion of these priorities will then be fed back to you at the next PACT meeting. The future of Caerphilly StreetPride
Although Caerphilly StreetPride is still very much in its early stages, we are keen to broaden the scheme as much as possible. In the future we will be looking for residents who would like to play a more active role in reporting their environmental concerns by becoming volunteer Caerphilly StreetPride Champions.
Similar in many ways to the role of a 'Neighbourhood Watch' co-ordinator, a StreetPride Champion will liaise with other residents of a particular neighbourhood and help us by reporting their environmental concerns to Caerphilly StreetPride, and also helping feed back updates on completed work to residents.
