The governments integrated transport strategy, which is an initiative to coordinate and improve all modes of transport, is put into action by the local transport plan.
The Local Transport Plan (August 2000) sets out Caerphilly county borough council's 5-year transport policy and actions.
The local transport plan records the existing conditions; aims and objectives for the local transport system; identifies problems and opportunities in the transport system; proposes strategies appropriate to the circumstances; and establishes monitoring procedures related to the chosen strategy. The plan considers all modes of travel - not just road and public transport but walking and other modes as well.
The Annual Progress report serves to review progress on the existing plan and update timetables.
