Walking bus

Risca Primary walking bus

The walking bus is a way for children to walk to school with their friends, providing fresh air and exercise, reducing the number of cars on the road during the school run and giving more time to parents.

Registered children are collected from 'bus stops' along a set route to school and accompanied by trained volunteers. All members of the walking bus are provided with fluorescent jackets and the bus operates to strict guidelines.

This is a very popular way of reducing congestion outside the school gate and encouraging a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
