Environment and planning

Protecting the environment is about more than putting litter in the bin. We work with local people, businesses and schools to educate them on everything from biodiversity to taking care of the countryside. We also promote environmentally efficient initiatives, such as encouraging recycling, composting or reducing packaging on goods and finding new ways to save energy.

Our environmental and planning pages tell you more about what the council and community groups do to protect the county borough, and what you can do to help us.

You can also find out more about planning matters, building regulations and environmental health, where we work hard to improve and safeguard the health of people living and working in Caerphilly County Borough. We achieve this by giving advice, inspecting businesses in terms of food safety and occupational health and safety and our many other functions dealing with public health including pollution control, health promotion, and animal welfare and pest control.

The results of recent surveys and The Excellence Wales award for 'Our Streets - Clean, Safe and Well-Managed' clearly demonstrate an improvement in all services that contribute to clean, safe and well-managed streets in Caerphilly County Borough.
