Libraries for under 5s

Young boy balancing a book on his head

Your baby can join the library from the day he or she is born - free of charge. You can borrow books and story and music tapes as well.

Its enjoying sharing books that are important – and don't worry about accidental damage. We won't charge you for books accidentally damaged by babies and toddlers and we don't fine you for overdue children's books either.

If you would like your baby to become a member of the library just call in to your local library. You will be asked to complete a short application form providing your baby's name, address, date of birth and your signature.

It's never too early to join the library - bring your baby along and see what's available!

  • A wide range of board books for babies, some with sound and different textures to appeal to the senses
  • Picture books for toddlers and pre-school children. Hundreds to choose from - favourite TV characters; books about everyday situations such as going to playgroup or a visit to the doctor; books with songs, nursery rhymes, number, colour; dual language books; books to share at bedtime, anytime!
  • Stories, rhymes and songs on cassette and CD.
  • CD's, DVD's and videos for early years
