Petroleum licence

To run a business where petrol is stored for dispensing directly into the fuel tank of an internal combustion engine - or where large amounts of petrol are stored for private use - you need a licence from your local petroleum licensing authority.

Fees will be payable for a licence.

Conditions may be attached to a licence.

What happens if your application is not processed within the timescales stated?

It is in the public interest that the council must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us within 14 days please contact us. You can do this online if you applied through the Flexible Support for Business service or use the contact details below.

Failed application redress

Please contact your Local Authority in the first instance.

If an application is refused the applicant may appeal to the Secretary of State.
