A School Travel Plan is a written document, which outlines a series of practical steps for improving children's safety on the journey to and from school. It aims to encourage schools to identity and solve problems associated with the school journey.
The School Travel Plan encourages sustainable forms of transport, which help reduce congestion, pollution and ultimately improves the environment around the school.
The plans are produced by the schools themselves and do not have to include physical works but instead are a way of living and learning.
The council has a dedicated School Travel Plan Co-ordinator, who acts as a resource for all Caerphilly county borough schools developing school travel plans.
