Cab Safe Scheme

Cabsafe scheme

Ever been on a night out and forgotten to book a taxi? Missed your bus home from school or college? How will you get home quickly and safely?

All you need to do is text the word 'Cab' to 83222.

You will then receive a text message containing the telephone numbers of three registered taxi firms that serve the area from which you are texting.

The system works by locating the sender via their mobile phone signal and replying with details of taxi firms serving that area.

The automatic reply service sends out numbers on a random basis so that all registered firms receive equal opportunities for business.

Text messages to Cab Safe cost 50 pence.

Many of the licensed taxi and private hire firms operating within the county borough have joined the scheme which ensures that you get quick and easy access to local licensed taxi companies.

Caerphilly County Borough Council introduced the Cab Safe scheme in December 2008, in partnership with the four other authorities in Greater Gwent and Heddlu Gwent Police, to help members of the public get home safely.

Promotional materials such as posters and beer mats giving details of the scheme, have previously been circulated to pubs, clubs, restaurants, take always and other late night venues throughout the county borough, together with information highlighting the possible dangers of using an unlicensed taxi.
