In order to comply with equalities and Welsh language legislation, one thing the council has to do is ensure that its own elected members and staff members are aware of what is expected of the organisation.
This will be achieved in two ways: -
- A wide range of training courses are offered so that the different issues can be discussed and awareness of the council's role can be explained (the equalities training page linked to on the left details this work) but on a day-to-day level, what is often needed is basic information and practical advice on how equalities and Welsh language issues can and do link in with the daily work that goes on.
- As part of the action plan to implement the Strategic Equality Plan and Welsh Language Scheme, one action is to issue a minimum of 3 sets of supplementary guidance documents or information per year. Some of these already exist on the council's intranet for staff members, but other documents may be of use to the public and to partner organisations and so they are being made available here.
Listed below are the equalities and Welsh language guidance documents and other related information currently available. Once issued, further guidance will be added to the list.
