Our managers work with local suppliers and national manufacturers to provide nutritionally balanced and healthy school meals. We work in partnership with Caerphilly Health Alliance and one of our main priorities is to increase the uptake of fruit and vegetables by children.
We have taken action in furthering this aim by introducing a scheme called 'Veg of the Week'. Our Healthy Food Trainers have been active in promoting this scheme and training our staff. We are proud to announce that we have won an Award For Action Locally (AFAL) award from the Food Standards Agency Wales for our Healthy Food Trainers initiative.
Visit our very own website called My School Lunch, which is dedicated to educating pupils, parents and teachers on healthy eating.
Appetite for Life
Appetite for Life is the Welsh Government's plan for improving the food and drink provided in schools in Wales.
It sets new food, drink and nutrient standards that mean food provided in school will be healthy and well balanced and snack foods and drinks with little or no nutritional value will not be available.
