Caerphilly Business Development Grant provides financial support to help eligible indigenous new or existing businesses develop and grow. The Caerphilly Business Development Grant is a flexible grant scheme designed to complement existing sources of funding.
Businesses (SME's – under 250 employees), or business start-ups in all business sectors may be considered (excluding retail). Those businesses that are eligible to apply for LIF will not be considered under this grant scheme. The business must be established in Caerphilly county borough or the individual a resident of Caerphilly county borough and setting the business up in the area.
Eligible costs could include:
- Capital equipment
- E Commerce and ICT
- Marketing
- Feasibility studies
- Business planning (where required to apply for other public sector funding)
Award of the grant is entirely at the discretion of Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The applicant must provide a business plan with a minimum of one-year cash flow forecast and project profit and loss. An established business is asked to provide the last 2 years accounts, plus management accounts if they are over 6 months old. Two comparable quotes are also required for each capital item purchased.
No expenditure can be incurred before approval, as the grants cannot be awarded retrospectively.
Other factors which are considered include: potential job creation, investment by private sector, value for money, equalities, adoption of environmental management systems and demonstration for the need for grant.
