We provide needs assessments for Adults age 18 + people who have a visual impairment, have a hearing loss or are Deaf who, as a result, find it difficult to carry out normal daily tasks in the home. The Sensory Services service is part of the Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment Team and made up of specialist workers who have the experience and training to help people with a sensory loss. Our staff are there to help you to maintain your independence and live more safely.
Our information on services for people with sensory disabilities is divided into the following categories:
Visual impairment
Adults and children with a visual impairment can get help. You do not need to be registered blind or partially sighted.
Services for Deaf or hard of hearing people
We have a specialist Advocacy service that understands the issues surrounding deafness and is able to provide information and advocacy.
Dual sensory impairment
Dual Sensory Impairment is combined sight and hearing loss. This ranges from being deaf and blind, to being hard of hearing and partially sighted.
